The Water Cycle

One of our questions from our inquiry into water was 'How is water made?'. Today we did an experiment to show how the water cycle worked.

We made this model to show our understanding. We also created our own illustration and posted it on our own blogs. Click the links on the side to check them out.

Cross Country

"Today it was cross country. It was a bit hard at the end because I ran a little bit to fast at the start" Zara
"It was hard at the end because I had already done the whole track and I went slow. Next time I will save some of my energy until the end" by Lachlan
"I went better this year because I didn't sprint really fast at the start, just medium pace. That meant I went faster to pass people at the end. I came second" by George
"I found it quite fast at the start then I slowed down and needed to walk a little bit" by Cooper
"It was hard because I felt longer than last year" by Tane
At the end I felt puffed because I had run the hardest I could" by Sophie B

Making Paper

Today we made recycled paper. First we had to rip up the paper into small bits. Then we added water. Then we mixed it up with a beater.

The next day we put the mix onto a screen and squeezed out the water shaping the pulp into a flat square shape. Then turned it onto some baking paper and left it to dry.

How long do you think it will take until it is ready? What will we be able to do with it?

More FM Joke-Off

We nominated Thomas to represent our class with a joke. We thought it was really funny.

Then our school will go up against other schools in the Manawatu to be in to win $4000 of computer gear. All you have to do is vote for us on the More FM website which will soon have all the jokes posted for voting.

Digi-nauts Treasure Hunt

On Friday we did a treasure hunt around the school. We had to follow the directions from the clues. We had to collect the made up words from the Lorax that were on each clue.

WALT: follow directions and use prepostional language.

It was easy to follow the clues because it tells you where to go.
The clue on the path was hard to find.

WALT: write a simile

Today it was raining and Cross Country had to be canceled. We sat out in the rain instead and wrote stories describing how it felt.
I was sitting outside and watching the rain fall from the sky. The rain is like chocolate chips falling from the sky. When its hits the ground it breaks. The rain sounds like little mice creeping on the ground.
By Atlanta

Ebony says: I like your simile Atlanta. I think it makes your story sound more interesting a I can imaging what the rain was like from your description. Well done.

WALT: Participate and Contribute

Today we learned about what it means to participate and contribute. Watch the movie and see how we did.

Digi-nauts...How do you think you participated and contributed?

Geometry

WALT: use prepositional language to describe an object and its position

We had to use instructions to get our buddy to make the same shapes and arrangements. It was hard because we couldn't look at it.

What are some words you used to describe your arrangement?
