WALT: measure area and add money values

Today we measured how my our hand was worth.

First we found out which type of had would fit the most coins, open or closed handprint.

Which print had the bigger area for you? Why do you think that was?

Then we measured our open hand again trying to use the largest value of money. Once we did that we dded the money up to see what our hands were worth.

How much was your hand worth? How could you make it worth more?

WALT: measure area

Foolowing Zaras question of how many people would fit on the lino we decided to try it out. We measure how many people would fit standing, sitting and lying down.

What was your prediction (or guess)? Were you right? What surprised you?

WALT: measure area

Today we helped Ebony solve a problem. Last term her and Ivan were trying to decide if the kids tables would fit on the lino area so that the carpets could be cleaned over the holidays. Ebony thought that they would not fit. We didn't either.

So we decided to try it out.

It turns out that Ivan was right. The lino area is 25 tables. We only have 24 in our class. One more would fill the little space at the end.

Junior Joker Competition

We are so lucky to have had More FM, Ronald McDonald and some of the Turbos come to visit to award our school with $4000 to go towards IT equipment as the winners of the Junior Joker competition.

Thomas from our class was one of the 16 jokers from RSS to say a funny joke that won our school the most votes out of all the Manawatu schools that entered.

Ebony especially liked when Ronald McDonald rapped the 'Make it Click' song.
