Take it Easy!

"Take It Easy" by Stan Walker

[Verse 1:]
Stronger days, Bitter nights,
Cold hands, Warm heart,
Walking round,
But you're staring at the ground,
Take hold, fall apart.

[Pre-Chorus:]
Little by little,
Someone blows the whistle,
It don't matter in the end,
So just slow it all down, slow it all down.

[Chorus:]
You gotta take it easy, easy,
Live your life,
Take on any kind of weather you and me together,
We'll be fine,
You gotta take it easy, easy
Take your time,
It's just you and me together any kind of weather,
We'll be fine,

[Verse 2:]
Open road, broken down,
Bright lights, dark town,
Stand up then you fall again,
You will find a way in the end.

[Chorus:]
You gotta take it easy, easy,
Live your life,
Take on any kind of weather you and me together,
We'll be fine,
You gotta take it easy, easy,
Take your time,
It's just you and me together any kind of weather,
We'll be fine,

[Pre-Chorus]
Little by little,
Someone blows the whistle,
It don't matter in the end,
So just slow it all down, slow it all down. [x2]

[Instrumental]

[Chorus:]
You gotta take it easy, easy,
Live your life,
Take on any kind of weather you and me together,
We'll be fine,
You gotta take it easy, easy
Take your time,
It's just you and me together any kind of weather,
We'll be fine (x2)

Persuasive Writing

Today we watched a clip from you tube about an experiment that Jamie Oliver did to show kids how unhealthy processed food was.

We decided to write a persuasive argument to get kids to eat healthy instead. Stay tuned for some of our writing.

Stone Soup

This term we are learning about the value Kotahitanga (unity and togetherness). We also celebrate Matariki this week. So to tie these two things together the whole school brought along one vegetable each and Room 14 made yummy soup for everyone to eat. Just like the story Stone soup.

Then some of the Digital Dudes illustrated the story for everyone to share.

Symmetry Art

WALT: use shape to create a pattern.

This piece shows symmetry. Can you see the autumn leaves reflection in the water?

Matariki Week

This week we have been celebrating Matariki. We enjoyed some soup made from everyone sharing one vegetable. This afternoon we were treated to a special kapahaka performance and we paid tribute to the students who designed and painted the Pou that are now in the front of the school.

What is matariki? Well some students from the kapahaka made a movie sharing the legend of Matariki.

Digital Dudes: Watch this movie again. Copy and paste questions in a google doc in your reading folder and answer.

  • Who raised Mitai?
  • What could Mitai transform into?
  • What was the terrible plan that Mitai heard the Fairy woman talking about?
  • How did Mitai and the brothers catch the Fairy Women and what did they do with them?
  • What are some things that happen during Matariki?

Poem of the week

This weeks poem is called 'Cloud Watching' by Garth Lancaster illustrated by Helen.

Preperation for Production

Today we had our first session with Dean. He taught us a cool dance to the song "I like Candy" which comes from the movie Hop.

Here is the song if you want to start practicing some of the moves at home.
